General Policy 1-25-08 rev 2 4-1--08
Terry Schafer
I would like to thank all of my students and the families of my students for all the hard work, the loyalty and the dedication it takes to learn to play guitar.
This policy also applies to lessons at my home:
1. Lesson payments are due monthly , the last lesson of the prior month (e.g. April 24th for May). No invoice will be issued. Lesson fees are per month regardless of the number of weeks/lessons in the month. If you are unable to pay at your last lesson then please mail a check to TERRY SCHAFER, 128 WATERFORD CT, NAPERVILLE 60540. If a check is not received by me that week, then the next lesson will be cancelled without a makeup. Non payment may result in loss of your time slot. No credits or refunds. You will be charged an additional fee for returned checks.
2. CANCELLATIONS: Make-ups are subject to my availability, limited to one per month. If less than 24 hours notice is given (or 48 hours before/after a holiday) then no makeup will be offered. If the student is not available for a make-up lesson at the time allowed no other make-up will be offered. Make up lessons are not guaranteed. Your monthly payment holds the lesson time slot open which includes holidays and vacations. Non payment forfeits your time slot.
3. If you have a question please let me know at the beginning of the lesson that we need to talk.
4. Any scheduling or miscellaneous questions should be asked before the end of the lesson.
5. Generally, you will keep your regular time slot during the summer months.
6. Lessons may or may not be a full 30 minutes long depending on the material to be covered, the preparedness of the student, inclement or dangerous weather, traffic conditions or any unforseen conditions that I may encounter. You are paying for my experience and what I can do for you or your student, not by the hour.
7. Lesson starting times may be 15 minutes early or late depending on my schedule for the day. If I am going to be more than 15 minutes early or late I will make every attempt to call you.
8. I reserve the right to cancel service to any person after the paid month's lessons are fullfilled.
9. All non-adult students will be required to learn to read music for the guitar during the summer months. You may be required to purchase one of the recommended method books or equivalent. Each student will be expected to complete the method book successfully.
10. If you have a song you would like to learn, you may be required to supply the CD and/or sheet music.
11. There will be no scheduled lessons or make ups for major holidays which include Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

General Policy 1-2-07
Terry Schafer
I would like to thank all of my students and the families of my students for all the hard work, the loyalty and the dedication it takes to learn to play guitar. It is not an easy thing to do, but it is well worth the effort.
In order to continue to provide you with the quality service you have come to expect from me, I need to ask for your help. Since I travel to most of my students, I try very hard to make our scheduled appointments. To do this, I try to follow a strict schedule that allows a fixed amount of time between lessons. A few guidelines that would help me get to the next lesson are listed below. This policy also applies to lessons at my home:
1. Please have your payment ready by the end of the lesson.
2. If you have a question please let me know at the beginning of the lesson that we need to talk.
3. Any scheduling or miscellaneous questions should be asked before the end of the lesson.
4. CANCELLATIONS: If you notify me before the day of your scheduled lesson, there will be no cancellation fee. If you contact me the day of your lesson, you may be charged 50% of the regular rate due at your next lesson. If you do not contact me before your scheduled lessons, I will expect full payment. If you cancel two or more times in one month or you habitually cancel for various reasons, you may loose your time slot. To ensure that you keep the same time slot, you will need to pay in advance for each month or pay a nominal fee. If you continue to cancel you may loose your deposit.
5. VACATIONS: If you schedule vacation time for more than 1 week you may be required to pay a non-refundable deposit to keep your time slot. The deposit may be 50% of each missed lesson.
5. Rescheduling: I will work with you to reschedule missed lessons if possible. Generally, you will keep your regular time slot during the summer months.
6. Lessons may or may not be a full 30 minutes long depending on the material to be covered and/or the preparedness of the student.
7. Lesson starting times may be 15 minutes early or late depending on my schedule for the day. If I am going to be more than 15 minutes late I will make every attempt to call you.
8. All non-adult students will be required to learn to read music for the guitar during the summer months. You may be required to purchase one of the recommended method books or equivalent. Each student will be expected to complete the method book successfully.
9. There will be no scheduled lessons for major holidays which include Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving.
